WASHINGTON, March 18 (UPI) -- Burma's leading dissident Aung San Suu Kyi is meeting envoys of Prime Minister Khin Nyunt and may soon be freed, Radio Free Asia reported Thursday.

"The Nobel laureate hopes to be released from house arrest as early as mid-April," the Washington-based, U.S.-funded broadcasting service reported.

"Aung San Suu Kyi is wiling to work with Khin Nyunt," Tokyo-based Buddhist activist Min Nyo told RFA's Burmese Service. He also said the prime minister's representatives were meeting the famed lady activist once a month.

The Burmese prime minister was considering freeing Aung San Suu Kyi during the annual Burmese water festival which falls from April 13 to April 16, Min Nyo said.

United Nations special envoy Razali Ismael met earlier this month with the dissident and then separately with Prime Minister Khin Nyunt and later said both sides were willing to try and break the long political stalemate between them, RFA said.
