Gay rights group hires Chrissy Gephardt

WASHINGTON, March 9 (UPI) -- An effort to get gay, bisexual and transgender U.S. Democrats to vote will reportedly be led be the daughter of former presidential candidate Dick Gephardt.

Chrissy Gephardt, daughter of the former House minority leader, was named Tuesday by the National Stonewall Democrats to direct the organization's grassroots voter registration campaign.

"As our number one activist, Chrissy will meet with activists around the country, helping them organize and get out the vote," NSD Executive Director Dave Noble said. "We're thrilled to welcome her to our team."

In addition to her campaign responsibilities, Gephardt will also serve as a spokesman for the group, Noble said.

The National Stonewall Democrats is an organization that works through the national party to advance gay rights.
