Four killed in SoCal desert collision

VICTORVILLE, Calif., Jan. 17 (UPI) -- A three-vehicle crash in the Southern California desert early Saturday left four people dead and three injured.

Los Angeles television station KABC said the deadly crash occurred around dawn on Highway 395 near Victorville when a van apparently crossed into the wrong lane and sideswiped another vehicle before plowing head-on into a sport utility vehicle.

San Bernardino County authorities were investigating the cause of the wreck and told KABC it did not appear excessive speed was a factor.
