Court rejects Ramsey housekeeper case

WASHINGTON, Jan. 12 (UPI) -- The U.S. Supreme Court Monday let stand a lower-court ruling against the former housekeeper for the parents of slain JonBenet Ramsey.

Without comment, the justices rejected review of an appeals court ruling that upheld Colorado's ban on making grand jury testimony public. The housekeeper, Linda Hoffman-Pugh, wanted to use her testimony in a book.

JonBenet Ramsey, 6, was found garroted in her parents Boulder, Colo., on Dec. 26, 1996. No one has been charged with her murder.

The Greeley (Colo.) Tribune reported Hoffman-Pugh had worked for the Ramseys for 14 years. Hoffman-Pugh told the Tribune last summer her life had fallen apart since the killing. No one has been arrested in the case.

Hoffman-Pugh lost her job and her daughter dropped out of school because of taunts from other children. She lost a libel suit against the Ramseys.

"JonBenet's case still haunts my family," Hoffman-Pugh said.
