Suspect questioned in Istanbul attacks

ISTANBUL, Turkey, Dec. 14 (UPI) -- Turkish authorities Sunday charged and interrogated a man arrested in last month's Istanbul bombing attacks that killed 62 people.

The unidentified man is suspected of helping prepare the explosives and trucks used in two days of suicide bombings of the British consulate, two synagogues and offices of the HSBC bank, the BBC reported.

He was taken into custody Wednesday in south-eastern Turkey while trying to flee to Iran with a forged passport.

About 30 people have been charged in the attacks on Nov. 14 and Nov. 20, the BBC said.

Turkish officials described the bombers as Turkish nationals with links to radical Islamic groups.
