Robbers target schoolchildren

LONDON, Nov. 27 (UPI) -- Robbers wielding crowbars boarded a school bus in south London Thursday and took cell phones, money and book bags from 40 terrorized children.

The students, ages nine to 18, were on their way home from Dulwich College when the attack occurred, the Evening Standard reported.

The bus was rerouted because of road construction and was stuck in heavy traffic when the five robbers came aboard.

Dishant Narwani, 17, told the Standard the robbers came in through the emergency exit.

"There were five of them," he said. "Three of them stayed downstairs and two went upstairs with crowbars. They were shouting for our bags, money and mobile phones."

The younger children were "screaming and crying," Narwani said.

Once traffic started flowing again, the robbers fled and smashed a bus window with a brick, he said.
