MIAMI, Aug. 23 (UPI) -- University of Miami games at the Orange Bowl are about to become less alcoholic.
New rules, which will be enforced immediately, are the latest effort by the city of Miami and U.M. to bring a more "family type" atmosphere to Miami Hurricanes games, where fights sometimes break out among fans who are often drunk, the Miami Herald reported Saturday.
"We want people to go to the game and enjoy it without having to deal with the boorish behavior," University Athletic Director Paul Dee said. "Some people who go to the games and have had too much to drink often become obnoxious to others or become sick."
Vendors will no longer be allowed to serve alcohol in the seating area, forcing fans to trek to a nearby concession stand to buy their liquor. More police will be milling about, making sure rowdy fans don't get out of hand.
