Officials ponder Diana's artifacts exhibit

ALTHORP, England, June 30 (UPI) -- The wedding dress worn by the late Princess Diana might soon be among several of her personal items sent on a worldwide tour to raise money for charity.

The dress, along with other artifacts, is currently on display in a museum at the Spencer family home in Althorp.

Sky News said Monday Diana's family has been inundated with requests to take the exhibition abroad but so far has rejected the offers, except from a recent tour of Japan last year.

Museum spokesman David Fawkes said the Far East tour prompted the family to look towards an overseas venture, including a possible U.S. tour.

But while the United States would be an obvious choice for a foreign exhibition, Fawkes told Sky News it wasn't the preferred option.

"We certainly feel we would wish to do it," he said. "We would want to design it (the exhibition) and have it reflect what we have here, rather than another interpretation."
