Suicide bomber kills Israeli grocer

TEL AVIV, Israel, June 19 (UPI) -- An Israeli grocer was killed early Thursday when a suicide bomber detonated a bomb in his shop in the Jordan Valley village of Sde Trumot, police said.

The bomber, whom police believe to be a young Palestinian, approached the center of Sde Trumot shortly before 6 a.m. The small village is on the Tiberias-Jerusalem road and police believe the bomber wanted to reach a more populated area.

An eyewitness, Asher Ben-Mussa, caught his attention and the bomber changed course and examined wine bottles outside a grocery store.

The shop owner called him in and the bomb exploded killing both, Chief Inspector Yossi Hasson told UPI.

Hasson identified the shopowner as Avner Mordechai, 63.

The Palestinian Authority is trying to reach a cease fire agreement with radical organizations. Nevertheless some militants continue attacks and Tuesday night penetrated Israel and shot and killed a 7-year-old girl.
