Port talks break off

SAN FRANCISCO, Oct. 7 (UPI) -- Labor talks intended to resolve a dispute between West Coast dockworkers and their bosses broke off indefinitely late Sunday, said Steve Sugarman, a spokesman for the Pacific Maritime Association. The dispute, in its second week, has shut down West Coast ports and has cost several Southern California communities billions of dollars in lost business.
