Texas 7, Baltimore 1

BALTIMORE, Sept. 3 (UPI) -- Jerry Hairston broke up the Texas Rangers' no-hit bid with a ninth-inning triple off Joaquin Benoit as the Baltimore Orioles dropped their 10th straight game Tuesday night, 7-1.

Rangers starter Aaron Myette was ejected from the game after throwing his first two pitches behind leadoff batter Melvin Mora. The pitches were in retaliation for Orioles starter John Stephens (1-4) hitting All-Star Alex Rodriguez with a pitch in the top of the inning.

Todd Van Poppel (3-1) relieved and struck out five batters in two innings and Benoit gave up only a hit to Hairston in a seven-inning save performance.

Michael Lamb highlighted a three-run second with a two-run single and Herbert Perry hit a solo homer that touched off a three-run sixth inning for the Rangers, who tied a club record by homering in their 21st straight game.
