McCain calls for Pitt ouster

WASHINGTON, July 11 (UPI) -- Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., on Thursday called for Harvey Pitt to step down from the Securities and Exchange Commission chairmanship, McCain charged that Pitt's conflicts of interest "contributed to his sitting out 29 SEC decisions in less than a year." Though a Republican, McCain often opposes Bush administration appointments.
