Governor calls for better forest practices

PHOENIX, June 25 (UPI) -- The new chairman of the Western Governors Association said Tuesday some environmentalists have opposed forest management programs that might have prevented wildfires like those burning in the West. Montana Gov. Judy Martz said more aggressive action is needed in national forests to control the underbrush that contributes to the fires.
