Bush boosts Africa education funding

WASHINGTON, June 20 (UPI) -- President Bush was slated to announce Thursday night a doubling of U.S. aid to Africa to improve basic education and teacher training, the White House said. The increase would bring up to $200 million over five years to train more than 420,000 teachers and provide more than four million textbooks for children.
