Hastert can't name NY aid

NEW YORK, Oct. 26 (UPI) -- New York can forget about the $54 billion in aid requested by Gov. George Pataki from Congress to meet the state's needs in the aftermath of the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks, House Speaker Dennis Hastert, R-Ill., said Friday. "The attack was an attack on America, not just an attack on New York, and state and local money will be necessary," Hastert said.
