Reports: Amazon replacing Twitter as live-stream host for Thursday night NFL games

Amazon is replacing Twitter as the NFL's live-stream host for Thursday night games in 2017.

The one-year, $50 million Amazon deal is for 10 games to be broadcast split evenly between NBC and CBS, according to multiple reports. Amazon Prime will carry the games that will be available only to Prime subscribers.

The reports also indicated that Twitter, Facebook and YouTube bid for the rights.

Last year, Twitter had a $10 million deal with the NFL to live-stream 10 regular-season games. They averaged 2.7 million viewers for at least three seconds of a game and 265,000 viewers per minute, according to Variety.

The 2017 slate of games will be determined after the NFL announces its full schedule later this month.
