March 10 Safety Quintin Demps benefited from a career year last season by agreeing to a three-year deal worth $13.5 million with the Chicago Bears on Thursday.

Demps, who made $1 million last season with the Houston Texans, announced the deal on Twitter and the Houston Chronicle reported the financial terms. The contract will become official when it is signed after league's new year officially begins at 4 p.m. ET.

Demps recorded a career-high six interceptions and had one forced fumble in 13 games last season with Houston.

By comparison, the Bears' defense had only 11 takeaways last season.

Demps sustained a hamstring injury in a 27-14 win over the Oakland Raiders in the AFC wild-card round, forcing him to miss the team's loss to the New England Patriots the following week.

The 31-year-old Demps collected 299 tackles and 18 interceptions in 107 career games with the Philadelphia Eagles, Kansas City Chiefs, New York Giants and Texans.
