Minnesota Vikings still undecided on Adrian Peterson's future

Feb. 23 (UPI) -- One of the best running backs of all-time might still be looking for a team to play for.

According to reports, the Minnesota Vikings still need "to make its decision" on what to do about four-time All-Pro Adrian Peterson. The 31-year-old is due $11.75 million, with a $6 million roster bonus, in 2017.

Although Peterson ran for a league high 1,485 yards and 11 scores in 2015, he averaged just 1.9 yards per carry in the three games he played in 2016.

Minnesota Star Tribune's Matt Vensel reported Thursday that general manager Rick Spielman said the Vikings are "still deciding what to do" with Peterson. He added that Peterson will "always be a Viking."

Last week, CBS Sports' Jason La Canfora reported that other teams have "real concerns" regarding Peterson's durability.

Last month, Peterson mentioned on ESPN that he has "thought about" joining the New York Giants, Houston Texans, or Tampa Bay Buccaneers. An anonymous general manager told La Canfora that he couldn't "see there being much out there for" Peterson if the Vikings let him go.

"I've been there for 10 years plus. You think about all the relationships you build there, with the organizations with teammates," Peterson told NFL Network earlier this month. "That's what you hate to depart from the most."

Peterson said he thought that the two parties could "work something out."

Last week, Peterson tweeted about the Giants' offseason activity.

The 2012 NFL MVP ranks No. 10 all-time in career rushing scores and rushing yards per attempt. His 11,747 rushing yards rank No. 16 all-time, while his 95.5 yards per game rank No. 4 all-time.
