The 28-year-old and former second-round pick (60th overall) of the Falcons in 2013 totaled 41 tackles, two interceptions -- one returned for a touchdown -- and 12 passes defended through 12 games this season.

Atlanta (7-5) is tied with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers for first place in the NFC South.

Alford recorded 135 tackles, nine interceptions and 45 passes defended in 53 career games over four seasons.

Falcons offensive tackle Ryan Schraeder received a five-year, $33 million extension earlier this season. Atlanta owner Arthur Blank also extended general manager Thomas Dimitroff through 2019.
