EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J., Nov. 2 (UPI) -- Such is life in the NFL.

After spending his first three NFL seasons as a backup running back for the Kansas City Chiefs, Knile Davis can't find a team. On Tuesday, the New York Jets became the third team in three weeks to give up on Davis.

The 25-year-old has 21 yards on 10 touches in six games this season. His unfortunate journey began when the Green Bay Packers acquired him in a trade from the Chiefs for a conditional late-round pick. Despite a decimated backfield, following injuries to Eddie Lacy and James Starks, Davis was waived less than two weeks later. The Jets claimed Davis off of waivers the next day, but the team waived him hours later, in order to sign C.J. Spiller.

The Chiefs drafted Davis in the third round of the 2013 NFL Draft. His best season came in 2014, when he rushed for 463 yards and six touchdowns on 134 carries.

Davis is likely on his way out of the league. If he does sign with another team, his role would be minimal.
