Running back Chris Johnson, an unrestricted free agent, visited with the Miami Dolphins on Wednesday after the team missed out on C.J. Anderson.

A source told ESPN's Adam Schefter that the Dolphins are turning their attention to the former Arizona Cardinals and Tennessee Titans running back.

The Dolphins lost former starter Lamar Miller to the Houston Texans in free agency and had signed Anderson to a four-year, $18 million offer sheet last week. But the Broncos matched Anderson's deal on Tuesday, keeping the running back in Denver.

Johnson, 30, is a four-time Pro Bowl selection entering his ninth season. He suffered a fractured left tibia in Week 12 with the Cardinals last season. He rushed for 814 yards and three touchdowns in 11 games.

Johnson, given the nickname "CJ2K" after rushing for 2,006 yards for Tennessee in 2009, rushed for more than 1,000 yards in each of his first six NFL seasons with the Titans.

In January 2015, Johnson was arrested in Orlando, Fla., for openly carrying a weapon but officials decided not to pursue charges. Two months later, Johnson was shot in the right shoulder during a drive-by shooting that left a friend wounded and the driver of their car dead.
