June 8 (UPI) -- Despite his team being down 3-0 in the NBA Finals, J.R. Smith's Twitter account said the Cleveland Cavaliers will win in seven games. The Cavaliers guard scored 16 points Wednesday in a 118-113 Game 3 loss to the Golden State Warriors.

After the contest, he appeared to tweet "Cavs in 7." But the social media post was promptly deleted and Smith said early Thursday morning that he didn't make the tweet.
"I got out of the shower and my phone was buzzing. I did not tweet that," Smith told Cleveland.com.
"I'm smarter than that."
Smith made five of his 10 3-point attempts Wednesday, after netting just three points on 1-for-4 shooting from distance in the first two NBA Finals games.
Before Game 3, the Cleveland Police Department was one of several fans tweeting trash talk at Golden State.

The police department's Twitter feed is full of references and support for the Cavaliers.
Cleveland is now on the verge of an NBA Finals sweep if the Cavaliers lose Game 4 at 9 p.m. Friday at Quicken Loans Arena. A LeBron James-led team has only been swept in the playoffs one other time. That happened when the San Antonio Spurs demolished the Cavaliers in the 2007 NBA Finals.
James is averaging 32 points, 12.3 rebounds, and 10.3 assists this year in the Finals. Kevin Durant has chipped in 34 points per bout for the Warriors.
