LOS ANGELES, April 12 (UPI) -- When you are as transcendent a figure as Kobe Bryant, you are a magnet for admiration.

Yes, NBA players of past and present looked to you as a model of success, as you raked in five NBA titles. But actors, businessmen, and rappers also had their eyes glued to you.

Kendrick Lamar proved that to be true when he released a personal farewell to the Los Angeles Lakers legend.

The Compton native Lamar released the video Monday, titled: "Kobe Bryant: Fade to Black."

The video features Lamar's voice over a narrative written by ESPN's Robert "Scoop" Jackson. Lamar's "Levitate," from his "Untitled Unmastered" album is played alongside the wise words.

Lamar takes viewers through the ridiculous ride of Bryant's brilliant career, from Lakers rookie to shoe-in Hall of Famer.

Bryant plays in his last game Wednesday against the Utah Jazz.
