MINNEAPOLIS -- Detroit Tigers center fielder JaCoby Jones left Saturday's game after being hit in the face by a pitch from Minnesota Twins reliever Justin Haley in the top of the third inning.
Jones took a 90-mph fastball to the side of his face and then he ran down the third base line, gesturing immediately to the dugout. Jones stopped around the third base coach's box and went down to his knees before trainers brought towels to put on his face.
Video showed Jones bleeding from the mouth and he immediately accompanied trainers off the field into the clubhouse. Jones was replaced by Andrew Romine, who stayed in the game in Jones' center field spot.
The rookie Jones was 0-for-1 on Saturday and is hitting .150 with one homer and four RBIs in 16 games. No announcement has been made by the team regarding the injury.
