Detroit Lions add RB Mike James to practice squad

The Detroit Lions signed running back Mike James to their practice squad on Monday and released running back George Winn in a corresponding move.

The 5-foot-10, 223-pound James enters his fourth NFL season following a three-year career with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, where he spent the majority of the 2015 season on the team's practice squad.

Originally drafted by the Bucs in the sixth round of the 2013 draft out of Miami (Fla.), James' career totals include 79 carries for 332 yards, with 11 receptions for 38 yards in 19 career games (three starts).

Winn was signed to the practice squad on Sept. 21. He played 19 games over the previous two seasons with the Lions, rushing for 74 yards on 23 carries.
