The Tampa Bay Buccaneers placed wide receiver Louis Murphy and guard J.R. Sweezy on the physically unable to perform list Tuesday.

Tampa Bay also put safety Elijah Shumate on the non-football injury list and signed offensive lineman Joel Hale to a contract.

Murphy had 10 catches for 198 yards in six games last season before suffering a torn ACL in October. The 29-year-old also famously fell asleep while at a wedding in the offseason and broke a pane of glass in order to call for help.

Sweezy, who signed as a free agent in the offseason, had surgery in April to deal with an ailing back.

Hale played collegiately at Ohio State and spent rookie mini-camp with the Buccaneers in the offseason.

The move comes after the team announced that offensive lineman Garrett Gilkey had been waived following a failed physical.
