Rickie Fowler takes Honda lead; Jason Bohn suffers heart attack

By The Sports Xchange

Rickie Fowler had another bogey-free day on Friday, helping him take a one-stroke lead after two rounds of the Honda Classic in Palm Gardens, Fla.

Fowler shot 4-under-par 66 in the second round after posting the same score on Thursday to give him an 8-under-par total of 132, just ahead of Jimmy Walker, who is alone in a second at 7 under after shooting a 4-under 66 on Friday.

During Friday's round, PGA Tour pro Jason Bohn suffered a mild heart attack after complaining of chest pains on the course. The 42-year-old, who has two career wins on tour, was taken by ambulance to Palm Beach Gardens Medical Center for testing and was to remain overnight in stable condition.

Fowler is the first player to go without a bogey for the first 36 holes at the Honda Classic since it moved to PGA National in 2007.

"I'm definitely pleased about that," Fowler said. "Got a nice break on 1 to kind of continue that. But yeah, I kept myself in it with some up-and-downs, made some good putts and then continued to move forward. Made a couple birdies coming in, so it was a little bit of a bonus there at the last."

Walker, who missed the cut last week, finished with a birdie and an eagle on the final two holes of his round, knocking in a 40-foot putt on the 18th for his eagle.

Sergio Garcia had a 69 and was one stroke behind Walker and one shot ahead of Adam Scott, who shot a 5-under 65 on Friday.

"Tomorrow is going to be an important day," Garcia said. "Rickie is playing really, really well, so I'm going to have to play extremely well to keep up with him. We'll see. Hopefully, we have a good chance on Sunday. See what we can do."

The leaders will not have to worry about Rory McIlroy, who missed the cut, and probably will not be threatened by Phil Mickelson, who barely made into the weekend.

McIlroy matched his first-round score with another 72 on Friday, leaving him at 4-over and missing the cut by one stroke. He had a triple-bogey 6 on the par-3 fifth hole and a double-bogey 5 on the par-3 15th.

It is the second straight year that McIlroy missed the cut at this event, and he left the course without speaking to the media.

Mickelson shot a 4-over 74, putting him at 3 over for the tournament, which was the cutoff score for staying through the weekend. Mickelson had two bogeys and a double bogey in the second round.
