Chicago to host NHL draft

The 2017 NHL draft is headed to Chicago, according to published reports.

An announcement is expected later Thursday in Chicago. NHL commissioner Gary Bettman and officials of the Chicago Blackhawks will be in attendance.

This marks the first time Chicago has hosted the draft, which is held in late June. The draft began in 1963.

Chicago hosted last year's NFL draft and will host that event again this season.

This year's NHL draft will be held in Buffalo on June 24-25.
