Roethlisberger was injured while being sacked by Bengals linebacker Vontaze Burfict at the Pittsburgh 5-yard line. He was attended to by trainers while lying in the end zone and appeared to be holding his chest area.

The Steelers led 15-0 at that point. Roethlisberger had completed 13 of 24 passes for 189 yards passing and a touchdown.

Landry Jones replaced Roethlisberger at quarterback.
