What we learned about the Cowboys:

1. It' s over. Dallas needed a whole of help to keep its fleeting playoff hopes alive, but with this loss the book officially closes on 2015. The Cowboys (4-10) are playing for draft position with two games left. Dallas has double-digit losses for the first time since going 6-10 in 2010.

2. Backup quarterback Kellen Moore is in line for more playing time to end the season. Though coach Jason Garrett didn' t commit to Moore as next week' s starter, the fourth-year pro out of Boise State showed flashes in his NFL debut. Moore completed 15-of-25 passes for 158 yards, one touchdown and three interceptions.

3. The Cowboys continue to fight. Even with the rash of injuries that started with Tony Romo, Dallas has been in more games than not during a 2-10 stretch that killed the season.

Etc.

--TE Jason Witten has gone over 600 yards receiving in 12 consecutive seasons. The veteran caught five passes for 49 yards against the Jets, giving him 70 receptions for 643 yards this season. Witten' s streak of 600-yards seasons began in 2004, his second year in the league.

--CB Terrance Mitchell, signed from the practice squad on Friday, made an immediate impact with a third-quarter interception. The spot on the 53-man roster was created when Dallas waived CB Tyler Patmon. Mitchell was a seventh-round pick by the Cowboys in 2014.

--RB Darren McFadden rushed for 100 yards on 16 carries. That' s two consecutive games with at least 100 after totaling 64 yards in the previous two weeks. McFadden is up to 898 yards on the season with two games left. He last rushed for 1,000 yards in 2010 with the Raiders.
