Cleveland Cavaliers point guard Kyrie Irving said he won't make his season debut Thursday night.

A team source told ESPN.com on Wednesday that Irving planned to play at home against the Oklahoma City Thunder. Irving's final hurdle before the Cavs approve of his return will involve a series of physical tests to measure his body's strength and responsiveness, according to ESPN.

Kyrie took to Twitter to announce that he will not return to the court Thursday.

"Sorry to dwindle the news, but I won't be returning tmrw. It was wrongfully reported. When I do come back you'll hear it directly from me," Irving tweeted Wednesday.

The Cavaliers also play at home against the Philadelphia 76ers on Sunday.

Irving, 23, has been sidelined for the first 23 games of the Cavs' 16-7 start to the season while recovering from surgery in June to repair a fractured left kneecap suffered in Game 1 of the NBA Finals.

Irving was cleared for full contact more than a week ago and has been through some practices since without any setbacks, according to ESPN.

Irving, a three-time All-Star, averaged 21.7 points, 3.2 rebounds and 5.2 assists last season.
