Denver Broncos quarterback Peyton Manning will have his walking boot removed on Friday but will not travel with the club for Sunday's game against the San Diego Chargers.

Manning has a torn plantar fascia in his left foot and will miss his third straight contest.

Manning was placed in a cast 10 days ago by a foot specialist.

Brock Osweiler will again start at quarterback for the Broncos. Osweiler has passed for 520 yards and three touchdowns in two starts.

Linebacker DeMarcus Ware (back) also will sit out against the Chargers. It will be the fourth straight game he has missed.

"Even though we have ruled DeMarcus out, he has made good progress," Denver coach Gary Kubiak told reporters. "Everything is trending toward next week."
