Aaron Sanchez tossed seven-plus strong innings and the Toronto Blue Jays thumped the Boston Red Sox, 7-0, to open a three-game set.
Sanchez (3-2) allowed two hits and walked five while striking out three for the Blue Jays, who have won three of their last four. Ezequiel Carrera drove in two while Josh Donaldson and Chris Colabello hit solo home runs.
Wade Miley (1-4) allowed four runs on eight hits while walking one and striking out eight in six innings for the Red Sox, who have lost six of their last seven games.
The Blue Jays jumped on top in the first inning as Donaldson belted a one-out solo homer, his seventh of the season, for a 1-0 lead.
Colabello's solo blast in the second, his first of the season, gave the Blue Jays a 2-0 advantage.
Toronto padded its lead in the sixth as Edwin Encarnacion led off with a walk, Russell Martin singled and Valencia singled home Encarnacion. Kevin Pillar then hit into a double play that scored Martin for a 4-0 lead.
Sanchez got into one jam when he loaded the bases in the fourth on a pair of walks and hitting a batter. However, he struck out Blake Swihart, and got Xander Bogaerts to hit into a double play to end the frame.
The Blue Jays put the game away in the eighth on an RBI single from Encarnacion, followed a bit later by a two-run base hit by Carrera for a 7-0 advantage.

The game opened a 10-game road trip for Boston ... Boston DH David Ortiz lost his appeal of a one-game suspension and served it on Friday. The suspension stems from an incident on April 19 against Baltimore ... Toronto went 3-for-8 with runners in scoring position.
