Cleveland Cavaliers sweep Boston Celtics but lose Love

LeBron James and the Cavaliers escaped a physical Game 4 with a sweep of the overmatched Celtics.

They played most of it without star forward Kevin Love, whose left arm looked like it was jarred from its socket by Celtics big man Kelly Olynyk, touching off a series of increasingly chippy plays that threatened to derail a game the Cavs led comfortably almost from the start.

James had 27 points, 10 rebounds and eight assists and No. 2-seeded Cleveland advanced to the Eastern Conference semifinals with a 101-93 win over Boston on Sunday.

The Cavs swept a playoff series for the first time since running the table against Detroit and Atlanta in 2009 with James leading the way.

They will face the winner of the Chicago-Milwaukee series in the next round. The third-seeded Bulls lead 3-1 with Game 5 set for Monday in Chicago.

The Celtics, after a late-season run landed them in the playoffs despite an apparent rebuilding effort, were swept for the first time in 11 years.

Kyrie Irving added 24 points and 11 rebounds for Cleveland and Iman Shumpert chipped in 15 points and 10 rebounds off the bench.

Isaiah Thomas and Jared Sullinger scored 21 apiece off the bench to lead Boston and Avery Bradley had 16 points.
