Top-seeded former world No. 1 star Caroline Wozniacki was an easy quarterfinal winner Friday at the Malaysian Open tennis event
The 2014 U.S. Open runner-up from Denmark handled German Carina Witthoeft 6-3, 6-1 on the hardcourts at Bukit Resort. Wozniacki will appear in her third semifinal in six events this season.
Her semifinal opponent on Saturday will be wild card Su-Wei Hsieh, who got past Russian qualifier Elizaveta Kulichkova 7-6 (7-4), 4-6, 6-0. Taipei's Hsieh captured the Kuala Lumpur title in 2012.
The 24-year-old Wozniacki is 3-0 lifetime against the 29-year-old Hsieh.
The other semi will pit fourth-seeded Aussie Jarmila Gajdosova against Romanian Alexandra Dulgheru. Gajdosova edged out Japan's Kurumi Nara 6-4, 3-6, 6-4, while Dulgheru upended eighth-seeded German Julia Goerges 7-6 (7-5), 7-5.
This week's champion will collect $43,000.
