Portland Trail Blazers' Matthews ruptures Achilles in win

Portland, OR (Sports Network) - The Portland Trail Blazers announced after their 94-75 win over the Dallas Mavericks that shooting guard Wesley Matthews will miss the remainder of the season with a ruptured Achilles tendon.

Matthews left the game early in the third quarter and did not return. He fell to the floor when he cut with the ball as he limped off the court with assistance from team personnel. An MRI after the game revealed the ruptured tendon.

Matthews had a relatively quiet game against the Mavs up to that point, scoring four points on 1-of-5 shooting in 18 minutes of action.

The six-year veteran averaged 16.1 points with 3.7 rebounds and 2.3 assists in 59 starts this season entering play on Thursday.
