Reds come out 7-6 over Athletics

Brandon Phillips hit a two-run home run in the bottom of the seventh inning to lead the Cincinnati Reds to a 7-6 win over the Oakland Athletics on Sunday.

Brandon Phillips hit a two-run home run in the bottom of the seventh inning to lead the Cincinnati Reds to a 7-6 win over the Oakland Athletics on Sunday.

Joey Votto added a solo home run while Billy Hamilton, Skip Schumaker, Ramon Santiago and Devin Mesoraco each picked up an RBI. Tony Cingrani gave up five runs -- three earned -- over four innings for the Reds.

Derek Norris went 2-for-3 with two RBI and Alden Carrithers, Michael Taylor, Nate Freiman and Jake Elmore each drove in a run apiece for Oakland. Sonny Gray surrendered five runs -- two unearned -- on six hits through three innings of work.
