SAN JOSE, Calif., Jan. 24 (UPI) -- Alex Stalock made 20 saves Thursday in what was his second straight shutout, carrying San Jose to a 1-0 win over Winnipeg.
Stalock made his 15th NHL appearance, 12 of which have come this season, and he continued his solid campaign by improving his record to 7-2.
He had recorded the first shutout of his career against Florida in his most recent start on Jan. 16.
The game's only goal came from Joe Pavelski on a backhand shot 6:48 into the third period. It was Pavelski's 28th goal of the season.
Ondrej Pavelec was the hard-luck loser, stopping 31-of-32 shots.
San Jose won its fifth in a row, but remained nine points behind Anaheim for the lead in the Pacific Division. Winnipeg had a four-game winning streak snapped.
