NBA: Dallas 111, Houston 104

HOUSTON, Dec. 24 (UPI) -- Dirk Nowitzki reached a career milestone with 31 points Monday, sparking the Dallas Mavericks over Houston 111-104.

Nowitzki surpassed Alex English as the 13th-leading scorer in NBA history with a jumper in the third quarter.

Monta Ellis provided 18 points, five assists and five rebounds as Dallas logged its first victory in three games.

The Rockets were led by 29 points and 15 rebounds from Dwight Howard.

Chandler Parsons added 21 points for Houston.
