NHL: St. Louis 4, Colorado 1

DENVER, Nov. 28 (UPI) -- Alexander Steen's 20th goal of the season highlighted a three-score first period Wednesday, launching St. Louis to a 4-1 win over Colorado.

St. Louis won its fifth in a row, its longest such streak of the season, and the Blues won in Denver for the first time in nine tries.

Steen shares the NHL lead in goals and his power-play tally 6:10 into the game gave St. Louis a 2-0 lead.

David Backes produced the opening goal of the first period and Jaden Schwartz scored with 1:48 to go in the stanza to give the Blues a 3-1 advantage.

Jaroslav Halak made 25 saves to claim the win.

Colorado saw a three-game win streak come to an end. Semyon Varlamov stopped 31 shots for the Avalanche.
