VAIL, Colo., Nov. 20 (UPI) -- Champion U.S. skier Lindsey Vonn suffered a partial tear to a knee ligament and is resting ahead of therapy and a decision on racing in the 2014 Olympics.

Vonn, 29, sustained a mild strain to her right knee and a partial tear to the anterior cruciate ligament of the same knee, the U.S. Ski Team said in a release Wednesday. Vonn was injured in a fall during training Tuesday at the U.S. Ski Team Speed Center at Copper Mountain, Colo.

She also had minor facial abrasions and shoulder bruises.

"Vonn plans to rest for a few days before pursuing physical therapy. U.S. Ski Team Medical Director Kyle Wilkens reported her response to the therapy would ultimately determine the timetable for her return to active training," the U.S. Ski Team release stated.

The knee injury is to the same joint Vonn severely injured when she crashed during a race at the February 2013 World Championships, tearing the ACL and medial collateral ligament in the knee. She also had a fractured tibia.

Vonn was training Tuesday ahead of the 2014 Olympics, scheduled for Feb. 7-23 in Sochi, Russia.
