NBA: New York 101, Charlotte 91

CHARLOTTE, N.C., Nov. 8 (UPI) -- Carmelo Anthony and Andrea Bargnani combined for 53 points Friday to bring New York a 101-91 win over Charlotte and interim Coach Patrick Ewing.

Ewing was called on to lead the Bobcats after Coach Steve Clifford underwent a heart procedure Friday. Team officials said Clifford had two arteries opened with stents after suffering chest pains Thursday.

Anthony scored 28 points to go with eight rebounds and six assists. Bargnani also pulled down eight rebounds along with his 25 points.

Ewing was a superstar in the NBA for 15 seasons while playing with the Knicks and is considered future head coaching material in the league.

New York ended a three-game losing streak after taking a 12-point lead into the fourth period.

Charlotte, which had won its previous two outings, was led by Kemba Walker with 25.
