Ryan Moore in front at PGA Tour stop in Malaysia

KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia, Oct. 24 (UPI) -- Ryan Moore, despite an opening-hole bogey, fired a 9-under-par 63 Thursday in grabbing the first-round lead at the PGA Tour's CIMB Classic in Malaysia.

Moore twice had three-birdie runs and moved in front when he made a 25-foot birdie putt at the 16th hole. He then placed his approach within inches of the hole at 18 for another birdie. His round included birdies at all four of the par 3s at the West Course of the Kuala Lumpur Golf and Country Club.

Keegan Bradley finished at 7-under 65 and is in second place while Sergio Garcia is third at 6-under. Kiradech Aphibarnrat, Chris Kirk, Rory Sabbatini, Chris Stroud and Boo Weekley are tied for fourth at 5-under 67.

Moore started slowly with a bogey at the par-4 first hole and a pair of pars but ran off three straight birdies over Nos. 4-6 and closed the front side with birdies at 8 and 9.

He moved to 5-under with a 2 at the par-3 11th before closing with a flourish with four birdies in the final five holes. That included a run of birdies at 14-16 and his 4 at the par-5 18th.

Bradley's round was bogey-free and including five birdies over Nos. 2-7. Garcia had three birdies on each side of his round.
