LOS ANGELES, Aug. 14 (UPI) -- The Los Angeles Dodgers won their seventh consecutive game Tuesday by topping the visiting New York Mets 4-2.
Hyun-Jun Ryu (12-3) stifled the New Yorkers over seven strong innings to remain unbeaten in his last nine starts.
Rookie Ryu allowed a first-inning home run to Juan Lagares but quickly settled down and allowed only four more hits and struck out three.
A.J. Ellis and Nick Punto homered for Los Angeles. The Dodgers have lost only three games since the All-Star break and have a sobering 39 wins in their last 47 contests.
The Mets had won five of their previous six games but did not score after Lagares' homer until the top of the ninth inning on an RBI single by John Buck.
New York ace Matt Harvey (9-4) suffered the loss after allowing four runs on eight hits and two walks over six innings. Harvey struck out three batters.
