MLB: Cincinnati 8, Cleveland 2

CINCINNATI, May 28 (UPI) -- Mat Latos hurled 6 1/3 effective innings and the Cincinnati Reds banged out 18 hits Tuesday in their 8-2 interleague spanking of Cleveland.

Latos (5-0) racked up his 11th straight start without a loss to begin the season, controlling the Indians on one run. The right-hander allowed five hits and struck out seven while overcoming four walks.

Xavier Paul went 3-for-5 with a two-run single in the first inning that handed Cincinnati a 3-0 lead and the Reds never looked back in rolling to their seventh win in eight games.

Zack Cozart added three hits, including a run-scoring single to cap a four run seventh inning, while Joey Votto and Jack Hannahan each contributed a pair of hits with an RBI in the victory.

Tribe starter Zach McAllister (4-4) was roughed up for 10 hits over 5 1/3 innings, surrendering three runs.

Michael Bourn and Michael Brantley each drove in a run for Cleveland, which tumbled to its fifth straight loss.
