NHL: Philadelphia 5, Carolina 3

RALEIGH, N.C., April 20 (UPI) -- Wayne Simmonds notched his first career hat trick and added assist Saturday, sparking the Philadelphia Flyers to a 5-3 win over Carolina.

Matt Read provided a goal and two assists and Jakub Vorcek also scored for the Flyers, who notched their third win in four games.

Steve Mason stopped 26-of-29 Hurricanes shots.

Justin Faulk, Jeff Skinner and Eric Staal each scored for Carolina, which fell to 1-9-1 in its last 11 contests.

Justin Peters was touched for five goals on 38 shots for the Hurricanes.
