OAKLAND, Calif., April 17 (UPI) -- A two-out triple in the eighth inning off the bat of Josh Donaldson drove in Josh Reddick with the winning run Tuesday in Oakland's 4-3 triumph over Houston.

Donaldson connected on the seventh consecutive fastball from Rhiner Cruz (0-1) to bring Reddick in from first base and give the Athletics their 11th win in 13 games.

Coco Crisp and Seth Smith both drove in runs for the A's. Oakland's Eric Sogard went 3-for-3 and was a home run short of hitting for the cycle.

Sean Doolittle (1-0) was credited with the win despite coughing up a score-tying home run in the eighth inning to Houston's Carlos Pena.
