WBC: Dominican Republic 4, Puerto Rico 2

SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico, March 11 (UPI) -- Alejandro De Aza doubled home the go-ahead run Sunday and the Dominican Republic took the World Baseball Classic's Pool C with a 4-2 win over Puerto Rico.

De Aza's two-bagger off Jose Berrios (0-1) in the sixth inning scored Carlos Santana and broke a 2-2 tie.

Robinson Cano went 3-for-5 with a solo homer while Edwin Encarnacion added two hits with an RBI for the Dominicans, who finished 3-0 in pool play and advanced to the WBC second round in Miami.

Lorenzo Barcelo (1-0) earned the victory with two innings of one-run relief.

Mike Aviles socked a two-run homer for Puerto Rico, which also advanced to the second round with a 2-1 record in Pool C.
