NBA: Brooklyn 95, Washington 78

NEW YORK, March 8 (UPI) -- Deron Williams put on an historic 3-point shooting show Friday and scored 42 points in sending Brooklyn to an easy 95-78 conquest of Washington

Williams attempted seven 3-pointers in the first 8 minutes and made them all. He then set an NBA record with nine 3-pointers in the first half and finished with 11 from beyond the arc.

He went 15-of-24 from the field overall while the rest of the team made just 17 field goals in 57 attempts. Brooklyn scored only 36 points in the second half and still won with ease.

Brooklyn's lead grew to as many as 27 points while the Nets were ending a three-game home losing streak.

Reggie Evans had a career-best 24 rebounds for the Nets. Brook Lopez was the only player other than Williams in double figures for Brooklyn with 11 points.

John Wall led Washington with 16. As a team, the Wizards made eight fewer 3-pointers than Williams did by himself.
