NBA: Sacramento 105, Toronto 96

TORONTO, Jan. 4 (UPI) -- DeMarcus Cousins scored 10 of his 31 points during a huge third period Friday that sent Sacramento to a 105-96 decision over Toronto.

The Kings cooled off the Raptors, who had won three in a row and eight of their last nine. Sacramento has won five of seven, easily its most successful stretch of the season. It was only the third road win of the campaign for the Kings.

Sacramento had a one-point lead at halftime, then held the Raptors scoreless for the first 5 minutes of the third period while the lead grew to 11. The Kings outscored Toronto in that quarter 28-10 and easily withstood a late comeback attempt.

Cousins added 20 rebounds while making 11-of-18 from the field. Sacramento shot 52 percent overall and held the Raptors to 37 percent.

John Salmons contributed 20 points for the Kings and Jason Thompson had 14. Toronto got 24 points from Kyle Lowry.
